The Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance Festival takes place annually during the Mid-Autumn Festival and spans three nights.
During this time, the streets of Tai Hang come alive with energy as over 300 performers parade a resplendent fire dragon through the streets, captivating audiences. The event originates from a profound historical tale; legend has it that during a plague outbreak in Tai Hang, villagers used the fire dragon, drums, and other rituals to pray for safety and the eradication of disease. Today, the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance has been recognized as a national-level intangible cultural heritage, attracting numerous visitors and culture enthusiasts each year to experience this unique Hong Kong tradition.
